Who am I?
I’m a small town woman with big city dreams! I grew up in a small farm town called Live Oak and after attending CSU Chico and living in the bay area for half a decade, I’ve decided to make the Sacramento area my home.I currently live in Roseville with my husband, son Westley, (check out my IG stories for #westleywednesday updates) and our pitbull mix, Hazel.
How did I become a hairstylist?
I became a hairstylist back in 2012 after deciding to stop the cycle of frustration and burnout that my corporate career gifted me.I wanted to be creative and positively affect those around me and having watched my mom work in the beauty industry, I figured it was a viable option.I attended one of the top schools in Northern California and landed an amazing opportunity at The Colour Bar in June of 2015.
What’s my role at The Colour Bar?
Even though I have a love for all things vintage and pinup, I still love learning new techniques and elevating myself as a stylist.I enjoy teaching in our salon as well as outside as a Davines Color Educator.I also have a passion for helping stylists find their purpose behind and beyond the chair, so you’ll often find me meeting with our team members on Tuesdays over at Starbucks or Temple Coffee.
Do I have a specialty?
Effortless hair is number one for me, as a stylist and a mom. After I had my son, I still wanted to look and feel cute but I wanted to put in as little effort as possible. So in early 2019 I tried SKW Extensions and starting having the hair I always dreamed of.I have naturally fine, straight hair that never wanted to hold a curl. Now I love being able to get up, brush my hair and do my 5 minute curl and walk out the door, not without my red lipstick of course! Experiencing this service on myself first fueled my passion for hand-tied extensions, as I can see just how positive it can be to your self-esteem.
What can you expect when you sit in my chair?
I absolutely love working with my guests on creating a color just for them and honing in on what a new look can do for them.I’m very detail oriented and can be quite a perfectionist, so be prepared for lots of foils and lots of talk of color formulations (if that’s your thing). If not, we’ll just chat about Disneyland and what our favorite ride is or debate about whether churros or popcorn are the best snack in the park.

I’ve been to The Colour Bar several times at their H street location, so today was my first time at their midtown location. I am so very happy to report I am absolutely in LOVE with my hair. I had all over color and a trim plus some fringe bangs (I didn’t have prior to coming). My stylist was ERIN and she is absolutely incredibly talented at what she does.
I am absolutely at a loss for words about how amazing my experience here was. I went to Erin Backman with my crazy plan for my hair and she listened to everything I said, made several really great suggestions, and gave me exactly what I wanted down to a T. Ive never had a better experience at a salon!
Erin is FABULOUS! I always walk out of The Colour Bar after an appointment with Erin feeling like a superstar. She is conscious of hair color and how a certain shade or highlight will look with your skin tone and cuts hair beautifully.
