Who Am I?
I am the tomboy gone girly girl. I grew up in Sacramento and am a wife and mother of two. I am a free spirited wildflower and down to earth. Secretly I think I am a mixture of Rihanna and Cardi B but with a fro!
How did I become a hairstylist?
I decided to pursue my hair career in my mid-twenties while pregnant with my first son, looking for flexibility in my schedule and a chance to do something I was passionate about which is HAIR. I attended Federico Beauty Institute and graduated as a Student Ambassador. Shortly after graduating I joined The Colour Bar team and the real fun and learning began.
Do I have a Specialty?
Curly hair is my specialty and happy place! I enjoy lightening, coloring, and cutting curly hair. I also love a good curl regimen/routine to keep that beautiful crown of curls moisturized and defined. If your looking for a good wash day regimen, lightening service, or dry cut I GOT YOU!!!!
What can you expect when you sit in my chair?
When you sit in my chair you can expect to laugh, relax, and be educated. I absolutely love educating my clients on the Why behind hair and also product knowledge. My ideal client takes great care of hair with a weekly hair regimen and only the best products by Davines.
I haven’t had a haircut since I moved to Sacramento because I was afraid of going to the wrong place. Based on reviews I came to the Colour Bar and they did not disappoint! Kia did an amazing job! She listened to everything I had to say, willingly answered all of my questions involving hair products, heat products, ingredients in products, and she even gave tips on hair care. Highly recommend Kia and highly recommend The Colour Bar.
This is the best experience with a hair place I’ve ever had! I booked a consultation with Kia and she was supportive of me wanting to go from light brown to black. We set an appointment for the next week. She explained everything she was doing to my hair and made sure I was okay with everything. She did an amazing job and I am in love with my hair! The whole process was thorough and you can tell she cared about the healthiness of my hair. I absolutely love my hair and love Kia!
I almost don’t want to write this review because I know my stylist is going to be even more booked up, but Sacramento deserves to know about this place!
Here’s my experience:
I had my first consultation with Kia about 6 months ago to talk about re-bleaching my hair for a lighter blonde. She took a strand test and my hair turned out to be too damaged to bleach again. I decided not to book a hair appointment because I wanted time to think about possibly doing a different color. Kia was great about it and assured me that there was no pressure to choose something right away and told me to give her a call when I was ready.
Four months later, my hair was in desperate need of help so I booked my second consultation. This time around I was more open to different ideas and asked for her opinion on what she thought would look good. I really appreciated how helpful she was in my decision making. She explained different techniques and what kind of products she would be using. She also explained the possible outcomes of the final hair color in such great detail. You can tell she is very knowledgeable about hair and hair products.
I finally got to see her this weekend to get my hair done and we went through a quick run down of what she was going to do and we started right away. Time flew by like nothing because we talked a lot. She is so friendly and honest. She educated me through every step from start to finish which I really appreciated. I love how my hair turned out and I cannot thank Kia enough for the work she put in to make my hair look great! As I get older I realize that the relationship between you and your hairdresser is SO important and I think I found a great fit with Kia. I already have my second appointment booked!
