Healthy hair grows from a healthy scalp! We spend so much time focusing on what we need to do to our hair to keep it healthy that often times we forget to address the root of the problem. (Pun definitely intended!) Scalp care is so important to pay attention to so that we can grow long healthy hair!
I correlate the process of taking care of your hair and scalp like taking care of your skin. When it comes to skincare we have so many amazing topical remedies that can address our concerns but it’s so important to also be taking care of ourselves from the inside out. Drinking a lot of water, eating a well balanced, and living an active lifestyle all effects how our skin looks and feels. When it comes to taking care of our hair, taking care of our scalps is like taking care of our hair from the inside out.
I’ve listed 3 easy tips to add into your hair care routine that will increase your scalp health!
Scalp Care Tips To Add Into Your Routine
- Massage Your Scalp Daily
Massage is so good for your scalp! It helps to bring blood circulation to the hair follicles which is the fuel that it needs to grow our hair. Just like if you’re trying to build muscle, if you’re not eating enough food to fuel your workouts, you won’t make progress! You can give yourself a scalp massage by brushing your hair, using a rubber scalp brush while washing, or even just using your fingers to get the blood flowing. You can also use a scalp oil to your scalp massage before washing to ensure it’s getting all the hydration it needs. Massage in the oil for 5 minutes and let it sit on your scalp for a little while before hopping in the shower. Even just adding this tip into your scalp care routine, you will notice a huge difference in how your hair feels and styles. - Clarifying Shampoo To Remove Product and Environmental Impurities Built Up On The Hair
Between dry shampoo, volumizer, smoothers, oils, and environmental factors so much that gets built up on our hair in between washes. When we have all of that on our scalps it can suffocate our hair follicles and prevent them from growing hair properly. By using a clarifying shampoo once a week, or every other week depending on your hair build up, you will give your hair and scalp a hard reset. It allows you to completely remove any of the build up and have a fresh start going into your next hair wash cycle. You’re going to be washing your hair anyways, why not up your scalp care while you’re at it? - Don’t Wash Your Hair Daily
The human body is so smart and is able to do so many things to regulate itself. One of the really cool things that our scalp does is produce oils that help to nourish our hair. When you wash your hair every day, it doesn’t allow those oils to get to the ends of your hair and if you do it consistently enough, dry out your scalp as well. A dry scalp doesn’t feel good and again affects how well your hair grows.
It’s important that we take time to address our scalp care concerns. By adding in these 3 tips, you’re going to help ensure that your scalp is getting the care it needs. With the combination of taking care of your body in general, you’ll be growing strong healthy hair in no time!
Until Next time,
Josie 🙂
